Reporting to the Manager, Design and Construction, the City Surveyor will lead a team of survey technicians in the delivery of land survey, capital work and other city projects. The Surveyor will provide professional and technical expertise to a variety of City departments; Legal, Real Estate, Planning and the Public Works Commission.

The main purpose of the Surveyor is to support various departments of the City of Brantford by providing them with survey, research, and boundary related services, products, and advice. The key activities for the City Surveyor are:
Provide oversight, guidance, technical training, coaching, and mentoring to field staff based on knowledge and expertise
Manage the collection and preparation of topographic survey plans for capital works projects
In collaboration with the Legal and Real Estate Divisions, the role will research, review and advise on complex tile maters and prepare reference and expropriation plans as well as work with the Land Registry Office.
Maintain the horizontal and vertical control networks and survey records for the City

Update the existing easement database and prepare reports and bylaws to dedicate rights of ways.

**Qualifications**:
Applicants must have a University Bachelor of Science (Geomatics) degree or equivalent and be a qualified
Ontario Land Surveyor, in good standing with the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors
Minimum five (5) years' experience as a licensed OLS
Operation, AutoCAD, Microsurvey, and MS Office
Ability to read, interpret, and report on surveying plans and drawings, correspondence, reports and other documents in a timely manner
Knowledge, training, and experience with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations
Excellent leadership, financial, communication and interpersonal skills are essential
Valid G Class Driver's licence

**WAGE/SALARY RANGE**:$44.27 - $55.34 per hour(based on 35 hours a week) plus benefits.
