Experienced Painter

**Starting Wage between $21-27/hour (depending on experience)**

**PLUS $6/hour additional when working at Big White (where most of our work is)**

**This means a starting wage at Big White of up to $33/hour total**

Weninger Construction is a family-owned construction company that is known for our high end custom projects, both new builds and renovations. We are a full-service general contractor that takes on a wide variety of work throughout the Okanagan, but especially up at Big White Ski Resort. We are seeking to add another skilled Painter or enthusiastic Painter's Apprentice to our painting crew to join our painters in painting and staining our custom homes.

This position will primarily be located up at Big White, where we have many unique custom home projects, but will also sometimes involve work at our shop in Kelowna, or occasionally at other jobsites located throughout the Okanagan. Job responsibilities will include all aspects of residential painting and staining, both interior and exterior, with training and oversight provided by our experienced painters and carpenters/supervisors.

Existing painting and staining experience is required for this position. We are willing to train or apprentice a new painter, but will prioritize applicants who have 2+ years of professional painting experience and/or prior formal training in painting/staining. Note: many of the custom homes we build feature a high volume of custom woodwork and/or timber framing, so prior experience working with wood products is an asset.

The starting wage offered will be dependent on experience, ranging from $21/hour for a newer apprentice up to $27/hour for a painter with 5+ years of experience and/or a Red Seal Painter certification. On top of the base wage, there is an additional $6/hour for hours worked up at Big White Ski Resort, where the majority of our projects are located. This means the total starting wage at Big White is $27-33 per hour, depending on experience.All Applicants Should:

- Be able to work full-time, Monday to Friday
- Be able to work on jobsites both at Big White Ski Resort and in Kelowna (current driver's license and own vehicle required to get to and from Big White, including during winter weather conditions)
- Be able to work in Canada (as a citizen or permanent resident, or with a current work visa)
- Have well-rounded experience in different methods and products used for painting and staining (2+ years experience working as a professional painter)
- Be a quick learner and eager to learn new things, as much of the work we do is custom and very detailed
- Enjoy variety in job tasks and be willing to help out with jobsite organization in addition to painting tasks
- Understand the importance of a culture of safety on site, and contribute to keeping oneself and others safe at work
- Value high quality and take pride in a job well done
- Be able to work well independently, on small teams, and also in a larger crew
- Journeyperson Painter certification an asset
- WHMIS training an asset**Job Type**:

- Full-time (Normal Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hour days, 40 hour work weeks, potential for some overtime)
- Long-term/permanent position with long-term opportunities for advancement
- Starting base wage TBD based on experience ($20-26/hour, see details above)
- All positions also receive an additional $6 per hour (to a max of 8 hours/day) on top of base wage when traveling to a remote site (e.g., from Kelowna to Big White)
