Detailed Overview: Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor, Population & Public Health is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the local delivery of Population & Public Health services by administrating, planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency and accessibility of the services. Monitors, reviews, and revises policies, procedures and standards, supervises designated staff, orientates, trains and evaluates staff performance and plans for ongoing staff training needs. Collects and analyzes statistics utilizing caseload statistical data and community needs, participates in the budget process, recruitment and selection of staff and consults and liaises with other Population & Public Health staff, other Health Authorities, community groups, and agencies. Responsibilities:

- Supervises designated staff by methods such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments and delegating work activities in accordance with the service needs. Evaluates and corrects employee performance, conducts performance evaluations, ensures staff meet and maintain professional nursing standards of practice through a process of education, observation and evaluation and reviews nursing documentation for accuracy. Collaborates with the Manager, and others to identify and recommend training/skill enhancement for designated staff.
- Oversees and coordinates the delivery of Population & Public Health services by planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the local delivery of the services provided to the Community. Monitors, reviews and revises policies, procedures and standards related to the care provided and collaborates with the Manager, as required.
- Plans, implements and evaluates orientation of new Public Health Nurses and designated staff; arranges student nurse field experience as required in collaboration with educational facilities.
- Ensures staff are familiar with designated program policies and directives through a process of orientation and by regular communication and updates and identifies local Public Health goals and objectives.
- Participates in the development of standards of nursing care, and long term planning by reviewing, evaluating, and making revisions and recommendations to the Manager.
- Oversees and participates in the selection of new staff through methods such as determining vacancies, conducting interviews in collaboration with Human Resources personnel, assessing clinical skills and making hiring decisions in conjunction with the Manager.
