Faculty Lead: Graphic Design

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Program Director Art and Design the incumbent provides academic leadership for the Graphic Programs: Bachelor of Applied Design in Graphic Design. The faculty lead must have a deep ownership of all aspects of their program, exemplifying and communicating a strong vision of success to all stakeholders. LCV is committed to providing students with Canada’s best educational experience and the faculty lead must display an unwavering commitment to this goal. The incumbent primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Academic Leadership, Teaching and Curriculum and Professional Development. He/she also participates in activities that promote the stature of the department and LaSalle College Vancouver and abides by the mandates set by the Board of Directors, the President and the College Leadership Team.

Key Job Responsibilities:

- ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP

Students
- Enhance the student learning experience and provides them with mentorship
- Advise and support students to achieve their educational goals through formal/informal advising and efficiently completing college administrative tasks (e.g. Attendance, submitting grades and administrative forms: Academic integrity, Grade change, Field trip forms etc.)
- Facilitate approved learning accommodations by working with Academic Advisors in Student Services to accommodate students with special needs. (e.g. alternative assessment options, increased assignment timelines, accessible course content, or level and nature of classroom participation)
- Manage student related operations such as scheduling, registrations and appeals
- Commit to efficiently completing college administrative tasks

Faculty
- Encourage faculty to collaborate with one another and engage with the greater community
- Assist, mentor and orientate new faculty
- Engage in peer-observation activities (as part of the LCV Faculty Development Review) and provide feedback to faculty
- Participate in faculty meetings, forums and program level reviews.
- Work with the Program Director and/or Chief Academic Officer to select, hire, and manage faculty (training, performanceetc.)

Operational
- In conjunction with the Program Director and Chief Academic Officer to create an annual operating and capital departmental budget
- Foster and promote inter-departmental collaborations to work toward the vision and mission statements
- Collaborate with Marketing and Admissions to achieve enrolment success
- Work with the team on cultivating external partnerships (industry, credit transfer related, alumni

Service and Community Engagement
- Serve on various committees (e.g. 1-2 standing, ad hoc committees & hiring committee), advisory boards, working groups, Educational Council as assigned by the program director and/or required
- Represent the college at local, regional, state, or national educational and industry specific events where required and necessary for the discipline
- Represent the department at college hosted events (e.g. All-Schools meetings, Commencement, Industry Spotlight, Open House, Orientation, Portfolio Show, etc.) to ensure maximum departmental representation
- Display a commitment to providing service to the college, faculty and students
