Executive Chef Melissa Craig, known for her award-winning tenure at Whistler's Bearfoot Bistro, has returned to her culinary roots at Sooke Harbour House.
With a comprehensive renovation nearing completion, with its ocean-view dining room, lounge, kitchen, and bake shop, Sooke Harbour House is looking for individuals to be part of this relaunch.

**JOB TITLE**:Expediter**
**REPORTS TO: Expediter reports directly to Captain or Chef**
**DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS**:
- Set up kitchen and service pass at beginning of each shift.
- Connect with the chef regarding daily fresh sheets, 86’d items and any other necessities.
- Accurately observe each plate as it leaves the service pass to ensure quality and Sooke Harbour House standards of preparation have been met.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to prioritize and expedite orders according to guests' preferences, dietary restrictions, and timing requirements.
- Monitor the progress of each order, ensuring that all components of the meal are prepared and plated correctly and in a timely manner.
- Verify the accuracy and presentation of each dish before it leaves the kitchen, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Communicate with servers and other front-of-house staff to coordinate the delivery of food to the appropriate tables, providing clear instructions and timing updates.
- Assist in garnishing and finishing dishes as needed, ensuring that they are presented beautifully and in accordance with established standards.
- Coordinate special requests or modifications to menu items, communicating effectively with the kitchen team to accommodate guest preferences.
- Maintain a calm and organized demeanor during busy service periods, managing multiple orders simultaneously and prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Monitor the cleanliness and sanitation of plates, utensils, and other serving equipment, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards and regulations.
- Address any issues or concerns related to food quality, timing, or presentation, working collaboratively with the kitchen and service teams to find solutions.
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff members, assisting in training and mentoring as needed to uphold service standards.
- Communicate with restaurant management regarding any operational or logístical challenges, offering suggestions for improvement and efficiency.
- Assist in closing duties, including restocking supplies, cleaning work areas, and preparing for the next service period.
- Uphold the values and standards of the restaurant, embodying a commitment to excellence, professionalism, and hospitality in all interactions with guests and colleagues.
**Qualifications**
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Expeditor or similar role in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
