**Division**: Global News
**Work Status**: Temporary Contract (12 Months)
**Location**: Toronto, ON (Onsite)

**About the Role**:
**You will contribute by**:

- Oversee daily production of Global News at 5:30 and 6, including building rundowns.
- Write stories, teases and headlines, and vet scripts.
- Assist in determining the look, style, pace, and format of the show and stories, based on established criteria and values.
- Pitch and produce original and compelling content for Global News Toronto
- Ability to be a strong team player on the editorial team, including show hosts and the studio crew.
- Work with fellow producers and writers to maintain Global News editorial standards.
- Plan, select, and request production and resource elements.
- Take live programs to air in a control room setting, in a calm and decisive manner, while problem solving, troubleshooting, and striving to improve the content.
- Ability to change and adapt the live show in real time as stories break
- Work with the network and affiliates to co-ordinate coverage and resources.
- Display strong editorial judgement.
- Ability to plan and produce special event and breaking news coverage.
- Perform other duties as required.

**Skills and experience you will bring**:

- A university degree or equivalent post-secondary education in a broadcast-related field
- Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in television broadcasting, preferably in a major market.
- The ability to respond quickly and knowledgeably to breaking news.
- Strong editorial judgment
- Experience taking shows to air in a control room.
- Strong news writing skills and excellent news judgement
- Exemplary leadership and communication skills
- An ability to mentor and coach others
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain creativity in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
- Ability to handle the demands and pressure of broadcast deadlines.
- Ability to work well in a team setting.
- Must have a comprehensive computer knowledge, including knowledge of lineup management systems and editing programs.
- Demonstrate a high comfort level providing clear constructive feedback.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
