**Title**: Shop Foreperson

**Location**: Dartmouth, NS

**Shift**: Monday to Thursday, 14:00 - 24:00 and Friday 14:00 - 18:00

**Reporting to**: District Equipment Manager

**Start Date**: As soon as possible

**Description**:
Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the provinces of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years’ experience in the waste management sector, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Shop Foreperson to be lead the team at our Dartmouth maintenance facility.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the day-to-day operation of the maintenance shop.
- Supervise and lead the shop team through mentoring, coaching, and accountability. Provide leadership to all show staff to instill a sense of ownership and career satisfaction.
- Ensure that all work is performed safety and in a cost effective and timely manner
- Minimize equipment downtime.
- Ensure that all shop personnel, equipment, vehicles, and work areas follow all safety policies and regulations at all times.
- Develop, implement, and maintain processes, procedures, and programs to improve safety, productivity, and cost savings for the site.
- Ensure that the shop and surrounding grounds are always clean and organized.
- Liaise with Operations Supervisors and drivers in a professional and team-oriented manner.
- Maintain all equipment records and files.
- May be required to (in a limited capacity) fill in the District Equipment Manager when necessary.
- Ensure that fleet software is properly and fully utilized.

**Requirements**:

- Willingness to take on new challenges and grow with experience.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot faults.
- Computer knowledge of Office Suite and maintenance-related software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have a valid Truck & Transport mechanic license and strong technical knowledge of the equipment.
- Possessing a valid class 3 license or higher is an asset.
- Must have a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to successfully lead a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines to make equipment available for operations
- Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet the needs of the department and the operations teams.
- Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
- Must adhere to all company policies and procedures including the company COVID-19 policies.
