Contract Hairdresser

**West Park Health Centre, Long Term Care home**, is looking to hire a skilled hairdresser to provide various hairdressing services to our residents based on their needs, specifications, and preferences. The hairdresser's responsibilities include greeting and welcoming residents to the salon and maintaining a clean and organized workstation. This is a contracted position and would be providing services 2x a month on average.

To be successful as a hairdresser, you should be detail-oriented and able to build rapport with the resident's and interdisciplinary team of West Park. Ultimately, an outstanding hairdresser should be compassionate towards our vulnerable residents and demonstrate excellent communication skills.

**Hairdresser Responsibilities**:

- ** MUST have personal liability insurance.**:

- Conferring with residents to determine their hairdressing needs, preferences, and specifications.
- Cutting, trimming, shaving and shaping residents' hair.
- Shampooing, conditioning, and drying clients’ hair.
- Using various hairstyling tools and equipment, including hair straighteners, curling irons, rollers, hairdryers, and hot combs, to style clients’ hair accordingly.
- Cleaning and sterilizing all hairdressing tools and instruments to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
- Providing their OWN hair dressing tools/equipment.
- Working with the Office Manager to access resident funds for payment purposes.
- Comfortable with residents who use mobility devices and knowledge of wheelchair safety.

**Hairdresser Requirements**:

- completion of cosmetology program.
- Personal liability insurance.
- The ability to stand for extended periods.
- The ability to work with vulnerable persons.
- The ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Patient and detail oriented.
- Completion of mandatory pre-hire check list: Negative TB, Police clearance, reference check, full immunization record
