- Job Summary
**The Team**
The North Vancouver Island Children and Youth with Support Needs Team (CYSN) is a dynamic, established regional team with four locations: Campbell River, Courtenay, Port Alberni, and Port Hardy. The team consists of 7 social program officers and 1 social program officer assistant, working collaboratively to support children, youth, and families with diverse needs. You’ll work alongside a range of professionals including Child Protection Workers, Guardianship Workers, Delegated Aboriginal Agencies (DAA), Community Living BC (CLBC), Service To Adults with Developmental Disabilities (STADD) and various community service providers. **The Role**
As the Team Leader, CYSN, you will lead an energetic team both virtually and in person, managing staffing and overseeing legislation. You will be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing a multidisciplinary approach to ministry programs and services, ensuring alignment with legislation, regulations, and policies. You will also provide guidance to staff on interpreting Acts, regulations, standards, and procedures. **Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience Requirements**
***1. Preferred Credentials**:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care **OR** Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare **OR**:
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) **OR**:
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- At least 2 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
**2. Expanded Credentials**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field **OR** Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field **OR** Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field **AFTER** the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
- Minimum 1 year of related work experience and at least 2 years of job-specific work experience OR At least 3 years of job-specific work experience.
- Experience supervising staff.
**Human Services fields include**:Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
**Preference may be given to applicants with the following**:
- Preferred education credentials **AND/OR** in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular full working level SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
- Minimum one year experience in CYSN (Child and Youth with Support Needs) Service Delivery.
- Experience supporting children with complex needs including Autism, high medical needs, developmental disabilities, and/or dual diagnosis.
- Experience leading and supporting a virtual team.
- Experience working with Indigenous children, youth and families in rural and remote communities.
- Eligible for C4 delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
