**OVERVIEW**:
We're a young, fun and friendly family seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Interventionist & In-Home Support Caregiver to support our 6 year old son with Autism. He is high functioning, verbal and very social. His challenges are language development, sensory processing and sensitivity, motor skills, and anxiety.

Full training will be provided and you'll have ongoing support, guidance and strategies provided by his BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst) from The Wonder Society. Experience working with children with special needs and/or Autism would be a benefit, but a passion for helping kids with developmental differences and a fun spirit is all that's required.

The work will be in-home and at least one parent will likely be working from home during the majority of shifts.

A vehicle and the ability to drive him to outings and drop him off at his learning centre would be a great benefit. The learning centre is about 10 minutes from our home.

We're looking for shifts Monday to Friday 9:00am-12:15pm, plus occasional evenings or weekends. The evening or weekend shifts would be more childcare-focused and you likely also be caring for his 3 year old brother at the same time.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide play-based care working 1:1 with child
- Incorporate behaviour intervention strategies into play-based care and daily routines under the guidance of his BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst)
- Occasionally attend meetings with his support team, including parents, BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analyst, distributed learning teacher, occupational therapist, speech/language therapist to ensure consistent approach
- Complete data sheets as requested or suggested by the BCBA
- Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, providing meals/snacks, as needed

**SKILLS & PROFILE**
- Ability to work effectively with children with diverse needs
- Understanding of special education practices and strategies
- Passion for supporting kids with autism and/or neurodivergence
- Fun and silly with kids (he's jokester and known to build a strong bond with people who "meet him where he's at"
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills
- Able to provide general childcare for 2 kids at the same time (age 3 and 6)
- Flexible availability to provide general childcare on occasional evenings and weekends
- Able to use your own vehicle for occasional outings and drop-offs (car seat provided)

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Previous experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges is desirable
- Solid understanding of autistic characteristics and neurodiversity
- Significant experience caring for children of all ages
- Ideally someone with a career in (or pursuing a career in) behaviour therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech/language pathology, or similar field
