Job Summary:
A Product Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and effective scheduling of product flow to meet production targets and quality standards for specific product lines. Working in coordination with the Manufacturing Area Supervisor, effectively schedule and coordinate workers. Responsibilities will include the training of staff in production methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues. The Product Supervisor will analyze the company's production and/or product processes and identify the cause of problems using problem-solving methodologies and then work to create solutions. Supervisors must be able to promote concepts such as lean manufacturing methodologies to measure and improve area operational performance. The person in this position is responsible for implementing and managing the department’s lean process improvement program, including the deployment of training and other duties that will enhance organizational efficiency and support a culture of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. In the course of their duties, the Product Supervisor will be expected to report upon all aspects of departmental performance, and hold responsibilities for adherence to budgets for their area. Through the effective management of targets, goals and production efficiencies, a Product Supervisor will ensure the ongoing success of the plant floor.

Main Duties:

- Supervise, coordinate and schedule the activities of workers.
- Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems.
- Enforce safety and health regulations.
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems or complaints.
- Provide information for production plans to ensure that production objectives are met.
- Ensure that work orders are completed in a timely fashion, within budget.
- Requisition materials and supplies.
- Train staff in job duties, safety procedures and company policy.
- Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions.
- Provide motivation for employees, increasing morale.
- Communicate expectations to employees for participation in Company goals.
- Increase worker efficiency and production rates through continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
- Monitor and assess employee performance.
- Work with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within and between cells.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules and other records/reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
- Report upon all aspects of departmental performance, and hold responsibilities for adherence to budgets.
- Actively participate in production meetings with the manufacturing team
- Stay current on lean manufacturing processes and tools and educate department on suggested approaches to improve machines, products and processes.
- Responsible for identifying areas for process improvement events, establishing objectives for each project, and selecting cross-functional team members and leaders. Act in the capacity of the facilitator for each event.
- Lead training to implement improvement strategies.
- Accountable to Human Resources to ensure policies, procedures, documentation, etc. is carried out in a manner consistent with applicable legislation and HR framework.
- Work with a cross functional team in the successful deployment of Change Management within an area or product.
- Monitor the progress of departmental projects, including ongoing status reviews.
- Responsible for coordinating and participating in follow-up meetings for each event to ensure follow-up activities are completed and improvements/benefits are realized and maintained.
- Focused on continuous improvement to eliminate short
- and long-term problems.

Qualifications:

- Supervisors are required to have a high school education or GED
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and other departments
