**CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a part-time research technician working with zebrafish.**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Zebrafish handling, genotyping, breeding adults and microinjection of embryos
- DNA extraction, RNA extraction, protein extraction
- PCR, qPCR, western blotting
- Fluorescent, brightfield and confocal microscopy
- Analyzing data and maintaining clear and accurate data records
- Independently identifying additional tasks which need to be performed
- Using appropriate safety procedures for handling, storage, and disposal of biological materials

**QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES**
- Experience with zebrafish is essential, but all the training will be provided
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and related experience
- Excellent interpersonal relations and communications skills, sound judgment and ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- Strong ability to organize and manage tasks
- High level of adaptability
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to learn and integrate new techniques & methodologies
- Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office)

**WORKING CONDITIONS**

On-site work in a research laboratory setting - free University of Ottawa shuttle runs every 15min between the two locations.
- Zebrafish facility location: D'Iorio Aquatic Animal Facility, 10 Marie-Curie Private, Ottawa, ON K1N 9B4
- Molecular biology lab location: Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute - 401 Smyth Road, Ottawa, ON K1H 8L1

**OTHER REQUIREMENTS**
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- Compliance with CHEO RI’s Universal COVID-19 Vaccination Policy; and
- Police Record Check.
