**NATURE AND SCOPE**

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Student Success, the Academic Advisor is responsible for advising students throughout the course of their studies about academic policies and processes, programs and university choices and requirements.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Advises students on courses and program progression and planning, diploma requirements, academic performance, university programs and entrance requirements, scholarships, available support services, and academic policies and procedures
- Provides timely and appropriate responses to student requests such as course exemptions, program changes, student exchanges and other academic concerns
- Assesses needs and provides appropriate support to students in particular situations, such as students registered with the AccessAbility Centre, transfer students, student athletes, students on academic probation, etc.
- Stays abreast of university programs and admissions information, both in Quebec and elsewhere, by communicating with university representatives, attending information sessions, conducting research, and organizing university visits to the College
- Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the College’s Student Success Plan, with a focus on academic achievement and university admissions
- Participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Institutional Policy on the Evaluation of Student Achievement (IPESA)
- Participates in relevant College committees

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience with data analysis and skilled at statistical and information reporting
- Experience in the Quebec college system
- Experience with Omnivox and Clara
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (testing may be required)
- Excellent spoken and written English and French (testing may be required)
