Caradoc Townsend Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriter to work remotely or hybrid in one of our offices (Waterford, ON and/or Kilworth, ON)

What you’re good at: *
- Reviewing new and existing risks, securing additional information as necessary and deciding on appropriate course of action.
- Negotiating the terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers and agents.
- Ability to problem solve and be confident in your decisions.
- Building and maintaining positive and strong working relationships.
- Making recommendations relevant to changes and/or also participating in developing underwriting policies, procedures and products.
- Acting as a strategic partner and mentor to agents, brokers and underwriters by answering questions and assisting with/conducting training.
- Working collaboratively with all departments.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, work independently with guidelines and show initiative.
- Being curious and asking questions to lead to finding ways to do things better.

**What you have**:

- 3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
- Farm experience and knowledge of the Mutual Insurance community is an asset.
- Commercial auto experience an asset.
- Understanding of facultative reinsurance an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Stellar organization and strong time management skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Consistent accountability and leadership capabilities.
- The ability to adapt to an ever changing environment.
- The desire to be an integral part of shaping the underwriting culture.
- Your CIP and/or CRM designation or working towards it.
- A vehicle and a valid driver’s license as some travel may be required.
