**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Outreach and Engagement with clients
- Pre
- and post-treatment support
- Assessment and Referral
- Individual Counselling
- Development of case plans based on client-centred recovery goals
- Networking with community agencies
- Crisis/Conflict Intervention
- Client documentation
- Community Follow-up
- Team Consultation and Decision-Making
- This position works out of Honeychurch Family Life Resource Centre (VAW Shelter), Cuthbert House (Open Custody/Detention Facility) and Choices for Youth (Youth Shelter)

**QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ ABILITIES**:

- Undergraduate degree or diploma from a recognized institution (in one of the human services professions), including qualifications to enter a Provincial Regulated College. Masters/Graduate Training an asset
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the addiction/mental health sector
- CACCF/ICADC Certification an asset
- Understanding of the continuum of addiction and concurrent disorders
- Knowledge and experience in substance abuse counselling interventions / treatment models
- Knowledge and experience with mental health and concurrent disorders
- Knowledge and experience in assessments, individual and group counselling and case management
- Understanding of trauma in relation to substance use, mental health
- Knowledge of cultural competent practices
- Knowledge and experience in conducting assessments using MOH assessment tools, individual and group counselling and case management
- The ability to work individually and as part of a team
- The ability to work collaboratively with community partners
- Knowledge and experience with data management systems, particularly Catalyst
- A successful police check as per Salvation Army Policies and Procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of relapse prevention, life skills, mental health recovery, crisis management
- Ability to provide effective individual counselling, process group facilitation, psycho-educational group facilitation
- Awareness of issues around and experience in dealing with concurrent disorders, marginalized populations, abstinence-based treatment, and harm reduction strategies
- Experience working with youth and women who have experienced violence would be an asset.
