Maintenance Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep of our reputable hotel. As a key member of our management team, you will play a significant role in preserving our facilities and enhancing the overall guest experience.
**Summary**
Under the direction of the **Hotel Operations Manager**, the **Maintenance Manager** is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction and accountability for all items that require general maintenance and repair within the hotel. High attention to detail and organizational ability will be required with advanced general knowledge including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, painting, and general construction.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Hire, train, coach, manage and supervise the maintenance staff, and ensure tasks are handled quickly and efficiently within budget restraints.
- Communicate effectively with members and departments within the hotel regarding the status of work orders and maintenance requests.
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance checks on the internal and external parts of the hotel.
- Utilize and update the work order system (MaintainX), ensuring all work orders are assigned and completed in a timely fashion.
- Ensure all guest requests are a priority for work being completed.
- Effective communication with our guests when required.
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the hotel facility’s equipment in various departments.
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Acts as hotel Safety Officer, one of the leaders of the Health and Safety committee of the hotel
- Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work.
- Attend and active participation in Department Head meetings.
- Direct contact for all outside contractors ensuring correct certification and necessary paperwork is completed prior to work being completed on site.
- Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly.
- Perform mechanical and preventative maintenance work on equipment as per the preventative maintenance manual.
- Keep up to date with all WHMIS and Health and Safety training and/or protocols.
- To have a general knowledge required includes but are not limited to guestroom, commercial laundry, boiler systems, HVAC systems, hotel key systems, kitchen equipment, forklift operation, restaurant equipment, etc.
- Make sure to provide a copy of the associate’s training documentation, SOP, and Policy to the HR Department.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
**Education, Qualification and Requirements**
- Journeyman with at least 2 (two) years of building managerial experience preferred.
- Communication skills, both verbal and written in English, required.
- Must wear a hotel-issued uniform and proper shoes (Steel toe boots)
- Clean criminal record check required upon hire.
- Strong multi-tasking abilities; exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Displays a positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm, and celebrates successes with the team.
- Meets deadlines that are decisive, and achievement orientated.
- Detail orientated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing.
- Multi task and establish priorities required.
- Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Certification in pool operation preferred.
- Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations, ordinances and legislation preferred.
- Possess a valid and clean class 5 driver’s operator’s license preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (ie. Excel, word, outlook) required.
**Work Environment**
- This position can be physically demanding, requiring frequent standing and walking.
- Ability to tolerate exposures to heat, cold and water
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- While performing the duties of this job, there may be stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching and crouching.
- Must be able to physically climb ladders or crawl into awkward spaces
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.
**Hours of Work**
- The hours of work for this position will vary depending on operational requirements but will include day, evening, and late night, as well as weekends and holidays, including a regular on-call shift.
