**Research Associate**:
**Main Functions**:
Specific tasks associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
- Design, conduct and coordinate various R&D activities
- Plan and conduct/supervise fermentation and other project activities in the process lab
- Train and supervise trainees and ensure the accuracy of the experiments
- Analyze and report fermentation/experiment results in written format weekly
- Write monthly R&D reports and other reports regularly
- Conduct a variety of lab QC analyses and technical procedures when required
- Develop technical protocols and prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure the supplies of chemicals and other materials for the projects in the lab
- Ensure that the fermenters and related equipment are in good working order
- Ensure clean and safe environment in the lab
- Participate in the trouble shootings in the plant and the transfer of R&D results to the plant

**Technical skills**:
Required
- At least BSc degree in Fermentation Technology, Biochemical Engineering, Microbiology, Biotechnology or relevant discipline with 1-5 related experience
- Working knowledge of fermenter operations and fermentation processes
- Relevant computer competence (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Minitab, Programming, etc)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate results, concepts and ideas
An asset
- Experience in yeast fermentation and processing
- Mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills
- Bilingual (English & French)
