OPENLANE (previously ADESA Halifax) has an opening for a full-time Service Advisor to join our team.
This role has a schedule of 8:30am-5pm Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime. Compensation package includes a company paid medical/dental/health care plan, life insurance, RRSP matching, 3 weeks of paid time off to start (prorated in first year), employee discount programs, and more.
Responsibilities include:
- Responding to customer inquiries, obtaining vehicle and service information, and ensuring customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention for all contacts and transactions- Promotion of OPENLANE's Mechanical services to auction customers, recommending necessary or value-added repairs that would be appropriate for the customer & coordinating repair process if approved-
- Accurately quote mechanical service repairs, including costing of materials, supplies, and labour for dealer, retail, and commercial customers in accordance with SLA's and company procedures- Prepare repair orders, including description of repairs and services authorized- Consult with service technicians regarding diagnostics, required or recommended service work, and status of pre & post sale inspections- Coordinate commercial/fleet repairs to ensure that vehicles are repaired as required/authorized by customer within established timeframe- Complete all administrative functions related to mechanic shop operation, including preparing quotes, seeking approval from customers, ordering parts/supplies, preparing invoices, posting fees/work into AMS, and other data entry tasks- Serve as mechanic shop liaison for arbitrations, working in conjunction with OPENLANE's Claims Operations department- May be asked to assist with completion of pre and post-sale inspections (PSI)- Assist with staging of vehicles for mechanic shop to ensure efficient work flow- May assist with coordinating workflow for our Mechanic team in absence of Mechanical Services Manager
Qualifications include:
- Previous experience as an Automotive Service Advisor is an asset- Previous experience or education as an Automotive Service Technician or Apprentice is an asset- Experience with Mitchell estimating system an asset- Strong customer service and communication skills- Able to efficiently respond to various requests at one time- Familiarity with Google Suite is an asset- Valid driver’s license, ability to drive both standard and automatic transmissions preferred
