Building Maintenance Technician

**Job Summary**
The **Building Maintenance Technician** will complete a variety of repairs, maintenance, and inspections at Whistler Housing Authority (WHA) tenanted properties and grounds including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and drywall remediation to ensure WHA properties remain safe, secure and in proper working condition for residents and visitors. A valid BC Driver’s License is required. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
**Responsibilities**
Complete a variety of building repairs, maintenance, and inspections at WHA properties which includes carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and drywall remediation - except when a licensed contractor is required by code.
- Undertake limited construction repair and renovation projects commensurate with Maintenance Technician’s skills and certifications and according to prepared specifications.
- Perform or coordinate regular servicing and upkeep of building structures and systems such as HVAC, dryer vents and duct work, roof maintenance, emergency lighting, fire systems, window cleaning, carpet cleaning and waste removal.
- Coordinate with the Capital Projects Manager and Property Manager the selection, purchase and installation of new equipment and fixtures necessary for the maintenance and upkeep of the units and buildings.
- Conduct regular building walkthroughs, spot checks and inspections to ensure a safe, secure, clean and healthy building environment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections of the parkades and exterior of the buildings, including landscaping, snow and ice clearing are being well maintained by subtrades.
- Utilize a computerized property management system for maintaining maintenance records and schedules and work and purchase orders - the current program management software being used is Arcori.
**Requirements**:
Has experience with multi-unit residential building maintenance, an aptitude for mechanical systems, and familiarity with municipal and provincial building regulations and compliance.
- Has experience conducting building inspections related to safety hazards, maintenance concerns and defective equipment.
- Has working knowledge of the functions and operations of residential heating, electrical and plumbing equipment and appliances and can identify potential problems and make semi-skilled repairs to building equipment and related systems.
- Prior experience in tenant relations is an asset, but not a necessity.
- Has excellent time management skills, can prioritize task to complete projects in a timely manner, and can reliably meet deadlines.
- Can manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Is competent using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and adaptable to using alterative software programs.
- Will exercise sound professional judgement, credible decision-making, and diligence for risk management.
- Will maintain an active First Aid certification along with relevant trade certifications while in the position.
- Is flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive, and thrives in a small, collaborative team environment and is passionate about making a positive impact in our community.
Pay: $27.00-$35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
