**COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST**

RAFT is a Niagara based organization devoted to reducing and ending youth homelessness.

We have developed a uniquely effective approach, all based on strengthening the attachment that youth have with key members of their community: with family, friends, colleagues, teachers and supporters. We have recently developed a new public brand and positioning and are ready to amplify our public presence. For this we are hiring a Communications Specialist.

The Communications Specialist will be responsible for deploying our new Brand and creative materials through the full range of traditional and online social media channels. We have developed a Communications Plan that outlines Content Themes and Communication Channels against an annual Editorial calendar. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for activating this Plan. As this is a new position for RAFT, you will report to, and work closely with, the Operations Manager.

We are looking for an individual who is ready to be on the leading edge of social innovation, reframing the way our community relates to youth homeless. **Key Responsibilities**
- Social Media
- Create and maintain social media content
- Build and cultivate online engagement
- Collaborate with RAFT team members for social marketing campaigns
- Report and analyze metrics to meet strategic goals
- Marketing
- Coordinate the preparation and delivery of marketing materials in collaboration with RAFT team
- Manage contracts with printers and merchandise companies
- Communications
- Understand key audiences and create target personas for strategic communications
- Posting Maintaining website with technical updates and new content
- Organize production and deployment of creative materials
- Develop press releases, coordinate speaking engagements with Executive Director, and identify further opportunities for community outreach and engagement
- Support Common Ground with developing program training manuals and content/media creation

**Key Skills**

Technical proficiency in
- Content Creation: Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva experience would be an asset
- Social Media Analytics: Familiarity Meta with Google Analytics
- Social media scheduling: Hootsuite, SproutSocial, Sendible experience would be an asset
- Website Maintenance: Editing Wordpress website
- Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Presentation skills: Working knowledge of Prezi presentation software would be an asset

**Professional History**
- Education: College/University Degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design or a related field that demonstrates ability to think and understand complexity and write a compelling and convincing copy
- Work history that demonstrates professional commitment to excellence.
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector an asset

Position is a one year contract with potential for renewal

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
