**Principle Trainer-Clinical**

For over 20 years, Collingwood General & Marine Hospital (CGMH), Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH), Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) have been in partnership sharing a single Health Information System (HIS) - Meditech. This group has come to be known as the “Regional ITS Partnership”. With the implementation of Meditech Expanse, RVH has been identified by the partnership as the Lead agency providing regional Meditech support and some other key services. The primary purpose of this partnership of the four hospitals is to improve patient safety and quality of care by promoting and maintaining a one patient, one record vision in our single shared HIS. The Regional ITS Partnership has identified information and technology as key pillar to support a safe and efficient patient experience while driving clinical excellence. We are excited to further expand our team to continue the ongoing support.

** & ACCOUNTABILITIES**

The introduction of Principle Trainers is pivotal in the Regional Digital Health Strategy and is grounded in the pillar for enhancing systems for Provider, Clinicians and Staff, aimed to drive improvement of communication between our clinical teams and improve efficiencies for workflows.

As a Principle Trainer, you will report to the Regional Clinical Informatics-Applications Manager, specifically on the Advanced Clinicals team. As a Principle Trainer, you will provide support for Clinical users (Nursing, Allied Health etc) across the Regional ITS partners (Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, Georgian Bay General Hospital, Headwaters Healthcare Centre and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre). Principle Trainers will provide instructor-led end user training classroom learning, including in small groups and one-on-one settings, as well as end user support. They will assess the training needs of end users during the course of training, and deliver training materials effectively using techniques for individuals with different levels of computer literacy and styles of learning. This role includes maintenance of the training environments, training materials and competency assessments.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

As a Principle Trainer-Clinical, you will:

- Demonstrate Clinical Practice and Technological Proficiency
- Practice with the patient and family at the centre of your decision making, followed by clinical user workflow and satisfaction with the HCIS
- Role model positive attitude in alignment with the Regional ITS Strategic Vision and RVH Values
- Clinical Practice and Technological Proficiency
- Demonstrate knowledge of hospital staff workflows and roles to inform training and support trainees as a Meditech Expanse systems education expert.
- Encourage evidence-based practice, continuous quality improvement, scientific inquiry and research within clinical disciplines and across regional ITS partner care teams
- Have knowledge and understanding of Provincial standards and by laws (Ex: Hospitals Act), external accreditation bodies (Ex: Accreditation Canada), and clinical regulatory bodies and standards (Ex: CNO, CRTO etc)
- Experience with Bedside Medication Verification (BMV), Transfusion Administration Record (TAR) and Electronic Medication Administrative Record (MAR)
- Demonstrate confidentiality regarding user and patient information
- Development and Delivery of End-User Training
- Prepare for and provide training to all levels of clinical staff.
- Modify instructional methods based on individual and group needs.
- Monitor learner progress and provide additional coaching as needed.
- Incorporate adult learning principles in the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs using multiple approaches.
- Provide feedback to management and ITS team regarding process improvements, end-user feedback, and content gaps.
- Support and Drive Clinical User HCIS Skills Development
- Encourages, promotes, and facilitates continuous HCIS learning opportunities and materials to improve Clinical practice and satisfaction within the HCIS
- Creates and maintain an environment (physical and virtual) that optimizes learning, to ensure ongoing educational opportunities on clinical practice and HCIS skills for Clinical staff
- Provides regional educational support, collaboration and training opportunities when required and/or requested by regional partners
- Acts as an HCIS educational consultant for Clinical Users
- Facilitates HCIS knowledge transfer, information and support in the Practice setting for Clinical Users
- Provide proactive pre-/post
