**CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary technical or management degree in a natural resource related field (environmental science, biology, ecology, geology, forestry, or geography) with a minimum of 7 years experience in environmental consulting with experience in terrestrial ecology or aquatic and semi aquatic biology
- Previous experience as a key team member executing environmental related projects focusing on baseline data collection for Biophysical disciplines with a focus on vegetation, and/or wildlife or aquatics
- Working knowledge of the regulatory processes and guidelines in in Ontario that guide the inventory and assessment of Biophysical disciplines
- Experience in managing and executing various Biophysical studies to support baseline assessments and applicable regulatory reporting to support development
- Excellent technical writing abilities and verbal communication both internally and client facing
- A professional designation is a requirement.

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Project Management, Deliverables, Expectations and Relationships**:

- Management of Biophysical projects/programs in areas of expertise including a range of sectors and geographic locations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for project execution of baseline environmental assessment programs associated with comprehensive regulatory submissions, compliance activities or research initiatives
- Provide support and technical expertise to address the SIR and SOC response process with regulatory agencies
- Develop and manage discipline specific budgets in alignment with project scope and strategy
- Develop and manage proposals in areas of expertise and support on proposals as required to support other Vertex business opportunities

**Personnel and Logistics Management**
- Help drive growth of the Biophysical teams in Ontario and other regions as business dictates
- Supervise, mentor, and provide technical support to intermediate, and junior staff working primarily on projects and assignments under your care and control
- Oversee and steward Vertex’s safety policies and procedures for all staff working on your programs and projects
- Work with other Senior staff to evaluate and procure staff as required to facilitate growth in Ontario and other regions as business requirements dictate

**Technical Requirements**
- Experience in projects within Ontario specific to permitting, development, and compliance activities for renewables, infrastructure, and linear developments
- Working knowledge - understand, remain current, and ability to interpret environmental regulations, guidelines, and standards as required by Vertex and client base
- Ability to navigate regulatory requirements and provide design solutions, mitigation and monitoring strategies, and identify risk s and opportunities associated with project specific Biophysical needs
- Provide technical guidance to staff for biophysical disciplines for Ontario based project work
- Steward technical disciplines in scoping and methodology development for programs
- Authoring and managing the progression of technical reports for regulatory submissions
- Senior review and sign-off (in areas of practice) of technical reports
- Other duties as directed by your Senior manager
