**Description**:
The FoMD, within the College of Health Sciences, at the University of Alberta, located in Edmonton, Alberta, is internationally recognized as a top medical school. The Department of Pediatrics is one of Canada’s leading academic health centres for pediatric specialty and subspecialty education and research. The Department works in close partnership with the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI) to lead cutting-edge research and with Alberta Health Services’ Stollery Children’s Hospital to provide exceptional clinical care.

The Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI) founded in 2006 is a partnership between the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, supported by the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation. WCHRI membership is made up of over 400 researchers who are passionately committed to women and children’s health and well-being. It is the only research institute in Canada to focus on both women’s and children’s health, including perinatal health.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is Canada’s first and largest province-wide, fully-integrated health system, responsible for delivering health services to the over four million people living in Alberta, as well as to some residents of Saskatchewan, British Columbia and the Northwest Territories. Stollery Children’s Hospital is a centre for specialized pediatric care that serves a referral centre for many services in Western and Northern Canada.

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation is a key partner in the educational and research (through WCHRI) mission of the Department of Pediatrics.
