Veterinary Technician

We are a busy Oakville veterinary hospital looking for a positive, and compassionate person with strong interpersonal and communication skills, solid organizational skills, and a desire to work as part of a cohesive team. We practice high quality medicine and surgery and provide exceptional patient and client care. We look forward to hearing from you

Hospital Tasks will include:

- Observe and participate where applicable with technical skills: venipuncture, IV placement, catheter, pain management and physical examinations.
- Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery.
- Cleaning and storing the surgical instruments when the procedure is over.
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian.
- Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian.
- Veterinary office management
- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals.
- Provide wound and bandage care.
- Nail clipping
- Ear cleaning
- Maintaining general cleanliness of the hospital and restocking supplies

**Requirements**:

- A Veterinary Technician Diploma or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years of veterinary experience
- Exceptional client service skills that build trust and loyalty
- Compassionate and nurturing attitude in providing care to clients and patients.
- Work effectively as a team player.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in stressful situations.

Salary and benefits depends on previous working experience, education and knowledge.

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Oakville, ON L6L 5W8: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Education**:

- DCS / DEC (preferred)

**Experience**:

- veterinary technician/ assisstant: 1 year (preferred)
