**Salary**:Starting salary at $21/hr, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will commensurate with each individual's education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

** What You Will Do**

Day-to-day operation and maintenance of DUC’s projects will include, but are not limited to:

- Conduct inspections, operations, and maintenance of water control structures and dams.
- Perform labour intensive maintenance activities including wading in chest-deep water, removing beaver debris, installing sings, clearing trails, brushing dams, and repairing fences and catwalks; using hands tools, brush saws, and water pumps.
- Use GPS technologies and navigate on backroads to access remote wetland projects and satellite communications devices (Garmin InReach) to ensure safety during field work.
- Perform construction tasks on project rebuild sites.
- Assist with wetland file management, photographic databases, and cataloging images.
- Assist with biological habitat surveys, including waterfowl surveys on DUC wetland projects
- Conduct wetland sampling on DUC wetland projects. This will include: collecting water samples, using electronic water quality probes and water level logging equipment, extracting soil cores, identifying wetland plants, and wading in water to collect samples.
- Assist with ongoing habitat restoration projects.

**Requirements**:

- Pursuing a career in agriculture, engineering technology, biology, plant ecology, environmental science or resource management.
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license (in good standing) and provide a current driver’s abstract.
- Comfortable with the safe operation of field equipment including: 4WD pickup trucks, ATV/UTV’s, and various power tools.
- Practical field skills and understanding of basic biology, local species, and ecosystems, as well as plant and wildlife identification skills.
- Knowledge of GPS-based technologies, survey techniques and Microsoft suite programs.
- Comfortable working as part of a team or independently.
- Experience being outdoors for extended periods of time, in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed, which may include longer days, evenings and weekends at times.
- Ability to live in Williams Lake, BC and work away for days at a time in company provided accommodation.

**Assets**
- Relevant certifications including ATV operation safety, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS or other
- Experience driving 4WD pick up trucks, towing/backing a trailer, and ATVs/UTVs.
- Experience using field equipment such as brush saws, chain saws, binoculars, chest waders.
- Experience conducting biological surveys, wading in mud and water, removing woody vegetation, navigating on backroads, working at remote field sites, and working construction are an asset.
