**Responsibilities**:
In BSS Calgary, our primary project types include forensic investigations and rehabilitation construction projects for existing buildings (focusing on building envelope performance), new construction design reviews and 3rd party site reviews, building envelope testing and commissioning, and long term capital expense planning reports. Our expertise is in roofing, fenestration, wall cladding, concrete technology and waterproofing, and other building envelope systems, and our projects focus on this expertise. Our key clients include residential and commercial condominiums, municipal and provincial governments and branches, private property portfolio ownership / management groups, lawyers / litigation experts, builders / developers, and architect- Assists in writing proposals and establishing financial budgets-
- Performs project contract drawing reviews (drawings, specifications, shop drawings, material submittals, etc.)-
- Attends pre-construction meetings and document discussions-
- Reviews and reports on project mock-ups-
- Performs periodic site visits and utilize a site visit reporting system to identify and update action items-
- Performs field testing to confirm building enclosure performance (water, air leakage, EFVM, infrared testing, etc.)-
- Assists in project designs. May include drawing preparation or specification writing depending on skillset-
- Assists in small project management and coordination-
- Assists in building condition assessments, concrete restoration, and building enclosure related projects-
- Performs and authors Facility Assessment reports including condominium Reserve Fund Studies and other capital expense planning studies for residential and commercial facilities-
- Participates in continuing education-
- Performs various office related tasks-
- Work with staff from other departments within the company when project necessitate, including structural, mechanical, electrical, code / fire / life safety, and others specialty staff.- Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field-
- Pursuing registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee (Engineering) is a plus-
- General knowledge of Building Science principles or Building Envelope components is a plus-
- Experience as a Building Envelope Consultant and/or Trade Expert is a plus-
- Organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks on multiple projects-
