**Overview**

A key part of our reliability team, the **Maintenance Foreman **is a hands-on leadership new role that will support the team and manage maintenance safety, people, and operations. This includes, assist with planning, organizing, directing, and evaluation of the physical operations of the facility and production as set out by company requirements, while maintaining a safe work environment.

**Shifts**: 8 hour (days). Flexibility required to accommodate business needs.

**Safety First**
- The Foreman is accountable for the safety of all shift personnel.
- Ensure safe work practices and adherence to plant safety rules and policies.
- Advise workers of any potential or actual danger to the worker's health and safety.
- Communicate safety concerns and issues to management.
- Participate in Joint Health and Safety committee.
- Plant security on back shifts and weekends.

**People Management and Supervision**
- Responsible for minimizing labour costs while maintaining effectiveness.
- Establish standards in consultation with the Maintenance Manager (e.g. housekeeping, OT distribution, work practices, etc.)
- Ensure employee training is effective and up to standard.
- Ensure Skills Matrix assessments are conducted, and issues addressed before the deadline for progression.
- Demonstrate sensitivity in supervising a diverse workforce.

**Operations**
- Fabricate and install parts or machine frames as per work orders.
- Install new or rebuilt equipment as per work orders.
- Weld, cut, and repair parts, as per work orders.
- Participate in machine start-ups.
- Prepare hot work permits.
- Communicate the status/completion of work assignments to Maintenance Manager.
- Assist with tooling changes as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping of your work area.
- Complete assigned preventative maintenance activities.
- All teams work effectively to achieve production targets.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, SQF, 5S.
- Production priorities are well understood and incorporated in work plans.
- Unplanned outages are acted on with high urgency and resources called in, as required.
- No surprises - communicates to appropriate function when there are operations issues that affect ability to meet commitments.
- Lead maintenance and repair of the establishment's machinery and equipment both electrical and mechanical systems.
- Maintain and support the Preventive Maintenance program including schedules and procedures.
- Coordinate and support general administration and services such as signage, cleaning, repairs, maintenance, IR electrical scans TSSA compliance, ESA compliance and PSHR approvals.
- Ensure the maintenance staff and contractors follow both internal policies, procedures and SOP’s and adhere to external codes and regulations provide training as required.
- i.e. Scissor Lift and Fall Arrest certification, Forklift Certification, LOTO Training, Chemical Control, Contractor Orientation, Z432 Safeguarding of Machinery and CSA 460 Control of hazardous energy.
- Work within approved maintenance budget.
- Oversee and maintain maintenance shop, maintenance equipment, building, and grounds.
- Other related duties as assigned by management.

**What you need**:

- **_ A Great Attitude_**:

- 5+ years experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Skilled trade ticket. 433a Industrial Mechanic/Millwright strongly preferred.
- Post-secondary education program in electrical or mechanical engineering or other related discipline to building maintenance; or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience in equipment and building maintenance.
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others.
- Strong relationship-building skills. Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, confidentially, and professionally.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Able to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.
- Commitment to strong customer service levels.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate and understand English written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work collaboratively at all levels providing a prompt courteous service to all employees.
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence.
