**Summary**:
The Health and Safety Advisor will report to the Health and Safety Manager at our Mississauga Cement Plant. You will be a safety leader at our facility and will be carrying out our plant safety program "See, Stop, Do."

**What you’ll be contributing**:

- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide technical and administrative support for OHS department.
- Maintain OHS, Disability and Training records, files, and databases.
- Prepare OHS reports and presentations.
- Writing health and safety, programs, and procedures for approval by OHS Manager.
- Assist in the development and deliver required safety training.
- Conduct inspections and audits to assure compliance with safety requirements.
- Participate in incident investigation and/or emergency response.
- Liaises with management, employees, external OHS related agencies.
- Other duties and assignments as required

**To succeed in this position, you will need**:

- Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Knowledge of OH&S Act, WSIA with emphasis on WSIB policies and processes
- 5 years OHS work experience or equivalent
- OH&S Undergraduate degree/diploma/certificate preferred
- Experience in cement or related industry (such as lime, metals, minerals or mining) or construction strongly preferred
- Effectively examine events, issues and problems and generate optimal solutions in a timely manner.
- Communicate with impact and create an environment in which people communicate honestly and openly.
- Develop and leverage effective networks and relationships with others inside and outside of the organization
- Work effectively in the face of ambiguity, shifting priorities and rapid change while actively developing one’s skills and capabilities
- Ability to deal with complex, sensitive and personal issues while maintaining confidentiality

**Physical Requirements**:

- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- This position may require some lifting of objects no heavier than twenty pounds (20lbs.)
- This position requires periods of standing and walking
- Physically able to climb ladders and scaffolds and work upon platforms

**Work Environment**:

- Working outdoors at varied temperatures and weather conditions
- Working indoors in varied conditions (ie. hot noisy, dusty)
- Exposure to extreme heat
- Working in confined spaces
- Working at heights
- Effortless mobility through all areas of the plant
- This position is based across the plant
