Marine Mammal Caregiver

-Marineland of Canada is looking for individuals to work in our Marine Mammal department for the 2023 season If you have a high attention to detail, good with animals, aren't afraid of heavy work or in school for animal sciences then this might be the position for you The Marine Mammal Caregiver position is an exciting opportunity where you get to care for, provide enrichment, and learn about the exotic animals who call Marineland their home.

**Job Purpose**:

- The Marine Mammal Caregiver has the important responsibility for the care of the marine animals at Marineland of Canada Inc. They also provide exceptional guest service to educate guests and answer any related questions.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Job duties include but are not limited to:

- Preparation of food and feeding of marine animals within the park
- Cleaning of fish freezers, lines, and husbandry
- Completion of paperwork to document health checks, food intake, husbandry, and medications
- Provide enrichment to the animals
- Provide health checks on the animals
- Provide exceptional guest service
- Educate guests and answer related questions
- Follow all legislative and Marineland Health and Safety policies
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum age 18
- Able to lift/carry 50+ lbs (23+kg)
- Prior experience in an animal care facility, farm or kennel is required
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations pertaining to the Marine Mammal department, care of marine mammals, aquarium maintenance and animal life
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong swimming ability, preferred
- Have a practical understanding of the principles of animal behaviour and decision making skills considered an asset
- Ability to speak in front of large crowds is considered an asset
- Ability to speak a second language considered an asset
- Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the entirety of scheduled shifts, during various weather conditions
- Work independently or part of a team
- Support a 7 day a week operation, including evenings, weekends and holidays
