**Position Purpose**:
Reporting to the Projects Manager, the Materials Handler will oversee and manage purchasing and procurement of materials within the Maintenance Projects division. The Materials Handler interacts and works closely with other members of the projects team including; Project Manager, Projects Superintendent, General Forepersons, and Labourer/Runner. The Materials Handler sources materials, obtains quotes from vendors, presents quotes for approval, and generates PO’s. The Materials Handler will also arrange for materials to be delivered to site and receive/track/issue the materials received.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Quote Development From Job Scope Packages**:

- Work with General Forepersons to determine required materials from MTO’s in the client provided job scope packages.
- Source materials from multiple vendors to obtain best pricing/lead times based on job requirements.
- Work with General Forepersons to obtain client approvals for ordering materials.
- Work with Quality Controllers and vendors when material substitutions are required to determine approvals and path forward.
- Manage goods received not invoiced (GRNI) including but not limited to sending out goods receipt reminders, validating accuracy of GRNI to ensure accurate monthly financials.

**Purchase Order Creation, Order Tracking, and Invoicing**:

- After all approval requirements are met, generate PO’s using appropriate GL coding processes in iDocuments.
- Monitor material lead times and follow up with vendors on expected delivery dates.
- Arrange for material delivery to site and lead the material receiving process. Verifying packing slips and materials received as well as accurately tracking and labelling all goods received.
- Maintain material control and ensure all materials are signed out following established sign-out procedures.
- Optimize cost tracking by determining billable consumables required for each job and tracking in iDocuments accordingly for Invoicing approvals.

**Rental Equipment Tracking**:

- Request quotes and generate PO’s for requested rental equipment.
- Track rental equipment utilization and rental contract timelines. Notify General Foreperson’s when rental agreement in nearing expiry and determine if PO cost extension is required and rental contract lengthened.
- Ensure all rental equipment is returned in a timely manners and appropriate contract ending paperwork received and filed to enable accurate invoicing.

**Other duties and responsibilities including**:

- Build relationships with Projects team members and vendors to develop optimized purchasing strategies and reduced vendor pricing.
- Adhering to organizational policies and procedures, including but not limited to Mikisew's Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements.
- Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

- Must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment with ability to manage competing priorities, multi-task and change priorities with mínimal supervision.

**Education and Work Experience**:

- Trades background preferred with 5+ years experience in managing project costs and materials.
- Experience and overall understanding of the Oil and Gas industry.
- Proven ability to work within a team environment as well as working under mínimal supervision to meet expectations and timelines.
- Equivalent industry experience combined with other formal training and accreditations may be accepted.

**Working Conditions**:

- Work location Syncrude Canada Mildred Lake Fort McMurray Alberta.
- The physical environment requires the employee to work inside an office environment as well outside the office depending on a required scope.
- The work is primarily sedentary.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
- Work outside of normal business hours will be occasionally required.
- Overtime required during the week and weekend with work volume.
- Ability to be flexible with work schedules and respond to requests without advance warning or notification.
