Position Purpose

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Purchasing & Science Store, ships and receives scientific products, makes purchases, serves store customers, and dispenses chemical products and gases in compliance with provincial and federal legislation. Delivers cylinders and dewars (liquid nitrogen) to labs and connects them, handles the Faculty’s courier dispatches.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
Ensure receipt of chemical, radioactive, biological, gaseous, and other products, lab equipment, and the supplies needed to teach and conduct research in accordance with relevant standards and procedures. Check packing slips against purchase orders, contact clients to follow up on orders, and deliver products when necessary.

Sell products to clients, transfer and distribute chemical products. Affix the relevant safety labels on products to comply with federal and provincial legislation. Arrange the physical layout of the store, ensure that electrical, electronic, and scientific equipment is compatible with the power supply before delivery.

Check the store’s inventory on a daily basis, update the inventory when products are sold over the counter and when the Faculty receives new equipment and furniture.

Make purchases and follow up with clients and suppliers. If necessary, perform all steps required to clear foreign goods through customs.

Coordinate the transportation of heavy objects and deliver pressurized gas cylinders to labs. Fill and connect the liquid nitrogen in the Faculty’s three loading docks. Handle heavy objects, including gas cylinders, barrels of chemical products, and laboratory apparatus, in accordance with prescribed safety methods.

**What you will bring**:
University degree in administration and office technology, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

At least two years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Knowledge of procurement principles and practices.

Knowledge of University procurement policies and procedures.

Knowledge of tax and customs legislation and regulations.

Knowledge of rules and practices for the safe handling and transportation of dangerous goods.

Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation on occupational health and safety, environmental protection, and the transportation of dangerous goods.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.

Initiative, self-reliance, good judgment.

Bilingualism - French and English (spoken and written).
