- About the roleAs ATB's next Director of Data Science within Data and AI, you are on a mission to shape ATBs future through data-driven insights, differentiate on the client experience leveraging AI that provides rich bespoke services to our clients, and enable improved productivity for our business. To do this, you will steer the vision, goals and milestones across a growing portfolio of cloud-based Data/Al Products. You assume accountability for the design and effective implementation of end-to-end scalable AI systems that meet the intended business outcomes. With clear communication and transparent processes, you will extend your influence beyond your team and maintain a shared understanding of the progress within your purview and the incredible value that is created. You know that people come first and are passionate about building high-performing and motivated teams. You have a deep knowledge of applied Data Science, have delivered Al outcomes in the past and can draw upon this experience to lead your team today. As a result, you've got answers for challenges at any phase of the delivery lifecycle - from Discovery, Proof of Value through Development and Operations. Through these actions, you will make it possible for ATB to make Al and data a part of everything we do - and ensure that we deliver on our 10 year strategy.

Accountabilities- Support the execution and delivery of a growing portfolio of Data/Al Products that advance ATBs capabilities and allow us to execute against our data monetization strategy. Collaboratively identify, assess and prioritize AI use cases, ensuring alignment with ATB's overarching strategy, business operating plans, industry and technology market scans, and insights from internal partners.
- Actively partners with internal and external technical thought leaders and specialists to develop a clear and value-driven vision for AI capabilities, aligned with the broader enterprise strategy. Takes ownership of strategic planning and design, ensuring effective identification of optimal solutions (build, buy, or partner) based on desired outcomes.
- Capable of reasoning through all aspects of the AI model lifecycle, including: problem definition, scope management, data acquisition, the development of statistical/predictive/machine learning models, operational monitoring, retirement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact AI solutions that drive tangible value for ATB and our clients, ensuring alignment with business objectives and navigating competing priorities. Proactively identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful and timely execution.
- A passionate people leader who builds high-performing, motivated teams that attract top talent, and actively contribute to an evolving culture of applied Al at ATB. Intentional in the development of your team, actively seek and provide feedback - while creating a culture of psychological safety, and consistently translate ATB’s strategies and connect it back to the work.
- As a Trusted AI Partner at ATB, foster strong relationships with leaders across the organization, contributing expertise and capabilities, and recognized as a valuable resource. Work to enhance the brand of the team and raise the profile of AI within the organization.
- Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the organization.
- Actively seek out new innovations and best practices in the space of applied AI/ML, drawing from best in class business practices to bring these learnings back to the organization. Maintain compliance with Responsible AI principles and governance requirements, ensure that all deployments adhere to evolving standards and best practices.
- Measure team efficacy to continuously improve team outcomes, and create a high-performing AI delivery team that consistently delivers innovative solutions and contributes to the success of the organization.
