The Peace Natural Resource District within the Northeast Regional Operations manages the Crown range program. The Ministry of Forests is the Province’s agency responsible for land and resource management in BC, which includes the protection of the Province’s archaeological and heritage resources. Operating on a provincial land base of over 94 million hectares, the Ministry ensures the sustainable management of range, forest, wildlife, water and other land based resources; works with Indigenous and rural communities to strengthen and diversify their economies; and, supports activities that provide environmental, economic, cultural and social benefits. The Ministry oversees policy development, operational management, and implementation, and administers all or part of over 60 statutes and associated regulations.

Reporting to the Range Officer, the District Range Agrologist acts as an expert for the District’s Range Program. Key range activities may include: operational planning, inventory (plant species composition, forage productivity and usability, livestock limiting factors, range use levels and stocking rates), range tenure administration (grazing and hay cutting, grazing leases), range developments and practices, effectiveness evaluations, and ecosystem restoration.

**Job Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor of Science in range management, plant ecology or related field that includes range science; one (1) year of experience in range management and administration.
- Registered, or immediately eligible for full registration, as a Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.) with the BC Institute of Agrologists (BCIA).
- Note: Immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BCIA within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
- Experience in developing and implementing creative solutions to complex problems.
- Experience in planning, preparing and delivering oral presentations and training to diverse groups inside and/or outside government and experience conducting effective meetings.
- A valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license or equivalent.
- Experience with vegetation identification.
- Experience with field work - specifically in remote locations.

There is one (1) permanent opportunity available. An eligibility list for future temporary and/or permanent vacancies may be established. Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home a few days a week as per the Telework Agreement. Flexible work options may not be available during operational field season.
