**Registered Dietician - Responsibilities**

You will collaboratively work with the Dietary Supervisor and the Multidisciplinary Team to ensure all required weekly scheduled assessments and referrals are being completed within the required time frame.

Overview of Responsibilities: (Not all responsibilities listed and not in order)
- Complete and monitor all residents' initial assessments, developing a custom nutritional plan of care that meets the residents needs.
- Ensure residents nutritional care program complies with established standards, policies, and guidelines for Long Term Care.
- Identify residents' nutritional risk and hydration level, outline a detailed personalized interventions on an ongoing basis to meet the residents' nutritional needs.
- Conduct chewing / swallowing assessments within the Registered Dietitian’s scope of Practice.
- Menu / nourishment planning and review of all diets, textures, and nourishments.
- Review and approve the homes seasonal menu and as needed when requested to change.
- Develop and review any custom menus for residents needs that may not be part of the therapeutic menu choices to meet the residents’ nutritional, cultural, religious, therapeutic needs.
- Provide nutritional education and support to residents, family, and staff.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the team, residents, and family members regarding residents’ nutritional status, needs and plan of care.
- Review residents weight summary report monthly with the care Team and initiate appropriate nutritional interventions, documentation and follow through to determine the effectiveness of the intervention.
- Develops nutritional therapeutic interventions incorporating food first approach supported as needed with nutritional supplements.
- Support the continuous quality improvement by conducting meal / nourishment observation audits.
- Participate and support the Home Team in the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) and Accreditation reviews, as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Maintain accurate record summary report of each visit, that would include resident changes, interventions, action plan and time allocated for each visit.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum 2 years as an active clinical Registered Dietitian in a Long-Term Care setting - Thorough working knowledge of the government legislation in the areas of Long-Term Care and Ministry of Long-Term Care Inspection Protocols
- Knowledge and use of Point Click Care and Point of Care
- Experience with completion of MDS RAI
- Excellent organizational, time management and multi -tasking skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously, take initiative and demonstrate flexibility.
- Ability to calculate BMI, body weight range, daily fluid requirements, daily intake levels for all genders and ages.

Knowledge of diabetes management, education relating to diabetes control.
- Comprehension of certain medication interactions with Vitamins, minerals, and supplements
- Knowledge of what to recommend in assisting with healing of wound and skin integrity concerns.
- Current professional registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians
- Post secondary degree from an accredited University in Food and Nutrition

**Job Types**: Part time - approx. 4 days per week

**Salary**: $52-55/hr

**Schedule**: - 8 hour shift - Day shift - Monday to Friday
