**Dietary Aide - Townsview Estates (Truro, NS)**

Townsview Estates is a 51-bed long-term care facility located in Truro, NS, licensed by the Province of Nova Scotia. Applicant must be available for weekend shifts. Shifts will be both pre-booked and call ins.

**Duties include but are not limited to**:

- Washing dishes and utensils in commercial dishwasher using proper procedure
- Setting up tables in dining rooms for resident meals
- Serving tea, coffee, milk, juices and water to residents
- Washing pots & pans by hand, ensuring proper sanitation
- Sweeping & mopping kitchen floor
- Cleaning & sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils and work area
- Peeling vegetables
- Stocking supplies
- Removal of garbage and compost
- Assisting cooks as needed, especially during mealtimes
- Record temperature of dishwasher water as per policy
- Following dietary restrictions and special instructions for meal prep
- Following food safety regulations and infection control procedures.
- Working collaboratively with kitchen staff and other healthcare team members.
- Adhering to health and safety standards set by Townsview Estates and provincial guidelines.

**Requirements for working in both departments**:

- High school education
- Clean vulnerable sector and criminal record check
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Availability for call ins and weekends
- Physical capability to perform work duties

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare or long-term care setting (an asset but not required)
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and dietary restrictions
- Strong teamwork, communication skills and attention to detail
- Compassionate and resident-focused approach
- Food Handler’s Certification (or willingness to obtain)

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: From $17.60 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- On call
- Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2025-03-17
