As a Maintenance Service Worker II in The Parkland School Division, you will be part of enacting our vision, mission and foundational statements.

Function and Purpose of Position
As part of the Maintenance team, this position is under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or Designate. This position includes the Maintenance Service Worker II general duties with a specialization in electronics.
General Duties - Maintenance Service Worker
Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment including playground equipment, building exterior, interior and landscape/parking lot
Perform preventative maintenance on a variety of building systems
Ability to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts on a variety of building systems and adjust if necessary (e.g. ventilation)
Complete basic repairs and maintenance on building components and equipment
Complete emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment, structures and grounds on the property
Manage an inventory of equipment, tools and machinery as assigned
Ability to complete assigned work orders in a timely and efficient manner
Ability to plan and prioritize work for self and seek help when needed
Move large quantities of furniture and equipment as assigned
Install appliances and equipment
Seasonal duties such as garden/yard maintenance, snow removal, etc.
Ability to go on call as per IUOE collective agreement
Check functionality of safety systems and be able to complete basic functions on said systems (e.g. fire alarm, security, etc.)
Collaborate and take the lead (when required) with co-workers and other professionals during renovations.
Specialty - Electronics
You will perform various electronics/communication maintenance at various locations including installing, repairing, replacing, testing and programming systems such as:
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems in schools
School bus radio system, (two -way radio’s)
Vehicle Global Positioning System (GPS)
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card systems on vehicles
Vehicle camera systems
Vehicle proximity warning systems
Maintain and manage all electronic inventory as related to school buses
School bus extended stop arms
Projectors
Building management systems
HVAC systems
Security systems
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent with an Electrical Engineering Technology Certificate or equivalent would be an asset.
Valid Alberta Class 5 vehicle driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
Experience
1 to 3 years of related experience
Experience and knowledge of Direct Digital Control (DDC) Systems
Equivalencies will be considered.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
The Electronic/Communication specialist will be required to routinely lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. Sometimes, heavier lifting may be required
Ability to climb, crawl, crouch, lift and move materials and equipment weighing more than 50 lbs with the use of proper equipment or team work
Ability to climb stairs/ladders frequently to varying heights, and work on machinery, or in tight spaces
Ability to perform heavy physical work; regularly
Ability to work outside in all types of weather
Basic understanding of construction safe work practices and procedures
Ability to identify hazards when assigned a particular task, detail the controls that must be put in place and articulate the specific practices to be followed to minimize the possibility of accidents and injury
This position also requires an ability to work with demanding timelines, in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Information
Maintenance Service Worker must agree to respect the confidentiality and personal integrity of students, parents, teachers and other staff.
**Hours of Work**: 40 hours /week (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM)
**Pay Rate**: $27.96 per hour
This position requires an original copy of a current clean criminal record check with vulnerable sector and an original copy of a child intervention record check.
This position is covered by the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local No. 955 Collective Agreement.
