The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) Youth in Policing Initiative (YIPI) is a paid personal, professional, and community development opportunity for North Bay youth aged 15-18 who are attending school. The program has been running since 2009 in partnership with Ontario's Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS). As a Youth in Policing Student, you will engage in hands on learning experiences that emphasize the importance of leadership, teamwork and community engagement. The goal of the YIPI program is to give young people an opportunity to develop job skills while enhancing police and community relations.

The program is for interested youth with leadership potential including those who may experience barriers to success and would benefit from this unique opportunity. Participants will be provided with an opportunity to learn about the North Bay Police Service, participate in the development and implementation of community initiatives including but not limited to: Lock It or Lose It Campaign, SCRAM Program, Bike Rodeo, etc.

This is a paid student position running for 8 weeks, 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday. The initial start date will be on July 4, 2023 and end on August 24, 2023.

To qualify for the Youth in Policing Student position, applicants must:
Be between the ages of 15-18

Reside in the North Bay area

Be currently enrolled in secondary school

Be returning to secondary or post-secondary school in September of 2023

Legally eligible to work in Canada

Be available for the entire duration of the program

Must not have previously participated in any YIPI program
