Casual Pharmacy Technician

**Commencing immediately
**_Duties: _**
A casual position is available for Pharmacy Technician who is able to function capably in the Inpatient
Pharmacy. This position is responsible for dispensing and checking medication to Inpatient, Complex
Continuing Care and Assess & Restore beds utilizing best practices to prevent errors. Performing inventory
functions including ordering from wholesalers following HealthPro contract guidelines. Maintaining secure,
appropriate supply of narcotics throughout hospital including night cupboards. Maintaining ward stock levels in
Inpatient, Complex Continuing Care, Emergency and Operating Room. Prepare I.V. admixtures and
extemporaneous compounds. Perform order entries, update and maintain patient profiles.

**_Hours of Work: _**
Shifts will consist of day/evening/weekend and holidays as needed.

**_Qualifications:_**
Completion of a recognized college level Pharmacy Technician Program

Regulated as a professional with the Ontario College of Pharmacists

Previous hospital experience with unit-dose and IV admixture systems, with experience in aseptic
preparation of parenteral products is preferred

Working knowledge of computer technology

Well-developed organizational and prioritization skills coupled with the ability to work well in a fast
- paced environment

Ability to work on special projects as necessary

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus

Sound independent work habits coupled with proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a
team

Proven ability to perform physical requirements of the position including moderate lifting

Proven ability to follow specific instructions with a high degree of accuracy

Demonstrated initiative

Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and willingness to actively participate in
department educational activities.

Demonstrates satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others
