The Emergency Technician will provide patient/family-centered care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The Emergency Technician will assist with medical directives and patient flow in the Emergency Department to support the inter-disciplinary emergency department team.

**Duties include**:

- Performing ECGs
- Obtaining and labeling laboratory specimens
- Initiating intravenous/saline locks
- Preparing patients for assessment, including undressing, attaching monitor leads
- Assessing and documenting vital signs and weights as directed
- Assisting physicians with minor procedures and casting/splints as directed
- Facilitating patient flow as directed
- 8 or 12 hour day/night shifts (7 days a week)

**Qualifications**:
- Medical Laboratory Technician Diploma or equivalent- Certified by the Ontario Society of Medical Technologists- Previous experience and expertise as a healthcare provider in an emergency department is an asset- Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team- Ability to respond to physical demands (i.e. lifts and transfers)- Current certification in CPR- Good organizational skills- Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
