**INSTRUCTOR**

(Lunenburg County Adult Learning Opportunities Program)

**Part-time**: 20 hours per week from September 2023 - June 2024

**Position Scope**

Follow good practice principles of adult education, including:

- provide quality instruction experiences for learners that are based on the interests of the learners, develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and increases self-esteem
- deliver programs which respect each learner’s unique identity
- establish individual learning plans at the beginning of the program
- Conduct appropriate formative and summative assessments to ensure learners are appropriately placed in programming and to monitor progress towards meeting their identified goals.
- ensure goals and learning plans relate to the participants’ educational, career and/or personal goals
- prepare learning plans for each learner, use his/her life experiences as material for learning, and accommodate different learning styles
- work collaboratively with participants to meet learning goals
- Solid understanding of assessment, processes, tools and resources
- The instructor provides assessment for GED prep classes and follow up with attendees on progress, is prepared to assist high needs students and actively researches assistive technology, assists with client service delivery and will facilitate workshops and/or deliver full programs.
- The instructor will document client information in LaMPSS

**Qualifications**
- University degree in Education with at least two years' relevant experience working with adults in an educational setting
- Completion of the Nova Scotia Tutor and Instructor Training and Certification Program an asset
- Proven coordination, organizational, computer and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Demonstration of strong interpersonal and team-work skills
- Effectively use information and communications technology, conduct research
- Excellent understanding of adult and inclusive education principles
- Adhere to inclusionary practice, ethical decision making and respect for diversity
- Commit to professional development and career self-management
- Familiar with various assistive technologies an asset
- Valid NS Drivers license and access to reliable transportation
- Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check

Salary Range: $20,904 - $24,460 based on 39 weeks
