Job Summary
The position presents an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment and perform echocardiograms on a complex patient population using state-of-the-art technology. As a Cardiac Sonographer in Southlake’s Regional Cardiac Care Program, you will be a member of one of the largest Cardiac Diagnostics departments in Ontario. Your studies will inform one of the most advanced cardiac programs in Canada, including extensive programs for Interventional Cardiology/Cath Lab, Electrophysiology, Heart Rhythm, Structural Heart, Cardiovascular Surgery, Coronary Intensive Care, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care. High emotional intelligence, work ethic, and respect for patients and colleagues are critical to success in this role.

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate of a recognized post diploma Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography Program
- Completion of a recognized Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), Level II Basic Rescuer Certification
- Must hold active membership with Sonography Canada or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
- Member in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus in human anatomy and physiology
- Certification in paediatric echocardiography is an asset
- IV insertion and contrast administration training is an asset
- Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac ultrasound experience, preferably in a hospital setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to accurately assess problems and urgency
- Strong de-escalation skills and calm demeanor in stressful situations
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and proven ability to meet the physical demands of echocardiography in the acute inpatient environment

Primary Responsibilities
- Performing ultrasound imaging procedures spanning all applicable modalities: transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE), transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE), stress echocardiogram, bubble studies, dobutamine, persantine, Definity contrast;
- Operating ultrasound, echocardiology/ancillary equipment and instruments, while ensuring they are performing in an efficient and effective manner;
- Preparing written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results;
- Performing patient handling responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal care for patients of all ages and abilities;
- Collaborating with hospital units across all sub-specialties to provide timely diagnostics while prioritizing according to physician input and urgency;
- Participating in educational, safety, and quality improvement programs/activities;
- Observing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures;
- Adhering to hospital and departmental mission and value statements while maintaining patient confidentiality;
- Performing cross-functional duties related to the job classification, as required.
