**Role impact**:
The Building Performance Specialist (BPS) role will provide technical support to the Manager, Energy & Analytics and Portfolio Energy Managers in the execution and delivery of energy conservation projects and programs.

Primary duties include leading key activities related to the on-going sustainment of the Energy Smart Operations (ESO) platform. This includes upholding the data integrity of the ESO platform to the highest standard possible; continuously improving on the ESO platform; exploring new opportunities to improve portfolio energy performance, assisting in the development and delivery of ESO training and coaching sessions, and providing insight to the project team on the development of the ESO strategy and long-term energy efficiency initiatives.

**What you will deliver**:

- Identify, investigate, analyze, review, and recommend solutions for the advancement of smart building technologies, specifically as it relates to Energy Smart Operations and other energy management initiatives (e.g., HVAC AI). Specific tasks would include:

- Review overall building performance to identify data anomalies and execute corrective measures for the program.
- Analyze data to continuously identify new fault opportunities.
- Attend and contribute to roadmap planning meetings and sessions in the topics of ESO KPIs/targets settings, feasibility of validation or ESO’s impact vs. business case, communication plan, definition of relevant program standards, reports, templates, and training and coaching materials, etc.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expertise in connectivity and analytics in the sustainment of the corporate on-going commissioning/fault detection program, known as Energy Smart Operations (ESO):
- Review and update analysis methodology applied by building consultant to identify Corrective Measures- Support scheduled meetings with property leads to review progress
- Facilitate effective working relationships between team members and properties
- Uphold data integrity with respect to connectivity and quality of data
- Assist in the development and delivery of training and coaching as required
- Support the Manager, Energy and Analytics in the continuous evolution of the ESO program
- Implement and administer defined tasks for on-boarding properties (new or existing) to the ESO program
- Assist Manager to define standards and KPIs for analytics, building performances, system, and equipment, etc.
- Coordinate and assist with site inspections by the regulatory bodies and consultants from time to time of the various measures implemented
- Provide support to HVAC AI program reporting, such as building reporting tools, updating/reporting to stakeholders regularly
- Support the Manager, Energy and Analytics with Measurement & Verification (M&V) efforts to determine savings based operational costs of the HVAC AI program at regular intervals
- Provide input to the evaluation and development of HVAC AI operational modules
- Participate in the alignment to the internal sustainability management tool (Green at Work) and achievement of third-party standards/certifications.
- Provide technical support and analysis on energy cost conservation opportunities
- Provide technical support and assistance in the execution on M&V of energy cost conservation initiatives.

**What you need to succeed**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field of study (e.g., Electrical/Mechanical/Energy/Environmental/ Engineering, Building Environmental Science, Architectural/Building Science, etc.)
- Professional designation such as a Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist (CET), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or a licensed professional engineer of Ontario (P.Eng.) is preferred.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years progressive experience in an energy reduction-focused role preferably within the commercial real estate field, or similar experience in re-/retro-commissioning, BAS design, implementation, and maintenance with a strong interest in developing energy efficiency experience.
- Strong knowledge in HVAC, lighting, and other systems in relation to system energy efficiency performance, and operation and maintenance.
