Recreation Manager

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Administrator, this position is responsible for the Recreation Department and its programming.
The role of this individual is to balance hands on involvement in programming and department administration/coordination. The role of this individual can vary depending day to day.
Coordinator is an asset for this position.
Education, Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Degree in Therapeutic Recreation with experience in gerontology,
community development but open to equivalent and experience.
- Certificates in CPR and First Aid, TB test
- Food Safe Certificate
- Minimum of 3 references
- Recent, related work experience
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English
- Ability to organize and prioritize
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with residents
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems
Job
**Responsibilities**:
1. Supervise a team of Recreation therapists in delivering programs based on need, interest and ability of individuals living in long term care.
2. Facilitate programs including happy hour, bus trips, birthday parties, daycare visits, special events, etc.
2. Staff scheduling.
3. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals, families, the public, staff and members of the interdisciplinary team.
3. Conducts MARRCC Assessments to determine goals and objectives for each resident. Participates in care conferences,
4. Representing the Recreation Department.
5. Leads department team meetings, stays current with policies and procedures of the department and agency.
6. Maintains strong understanding of knowledge related to OH&S, accreditation, safety, and infection control.
7. Conducts volunteer orientation and daily guidance of volunteers and or students by providing functional direction during programs. 1:1, small groups, large groups & special events.
8. Demonstrates related techniques as required.
7. Attends management meetings, staff in services, meetings, participates on committees and attends work related and pre-approved conferences and seminars.
8. Manages and maintains recreation and administrative budgets.
9. Submits monthly food requisitions.
10. Publish quarterly newsletters.
11. Designs posters to communicate with families and staff
Pay: $26.50-$32.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
