Happy Paws runs a small enrichment doggy camp (structured daycare) and we are seeking: patient individuals who are great self-starters and also work well in a team environment. Attention to detail and great communication skills are essential, along with a positive attitude and, of course, a love of dogs

Daycare Associates are expected to be easy going, confident, assertive with a caring and enterprising personality, be agile, easily adapting to a dynamic fast-paced environment, be knowledgeable and passionate about dogs and eager for ongoing learning.

All staff are treated equally, everyone pitches in regardless of the task (including the owner). Shifts will be a set schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7am to 2pm, with weekends and holidays off.

**Your typical day would include, but is not limited to**:

- Engaging with and supervising dogs in our facility to foster positive play, socialization, structure, training and enrichment.
- Dog Care & Supervision: control level of play; use appropriate dog handling techniques; use proper introduction techniques, use appropriate praise and dog correction methods.
- Regular cleaning of the dog areas, retail and overall spaces.
- Training: providing support, repetitions and consistency of obedience skills in our client’s training journey with their dog(s).
- Feeding the dogs, ensuring any and all dietary specifications are met, administering medication when needed.
- Daily team meetings and debriefing. Interacting with owners and discussing their dog’s day and ongoing care with us.

About you:

- Professional dog handling experience is REQUIRED.
- An understanding of dog behaviours and body language.
- Detail oriented, professional, dependable, positive attitude and a team player, but also happy to work independently.
- You’re adaptable, responsive and open to taking on additional tasks with a smile.
- Able to complete pet first aid certification within 3 months of employment.
- Comfortable spending A LOT of time outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Prior experience working at a daycare is an asset.
- Access to a smartphone with data plan.
- Being punctual and reliable for all shifts.
- Looking to learn and grow in a company that is always changing and evolving.
- Don’t mind getting dirty or furry.
- In good physical condition to clean, lift and be on your feet for 5+ hours.
- Can work with a small group, variety of sizes, personalities, and ages of dogs.
- You are at least 21 years of age
- You have your own vehicle (non-negotiable)

**Salary**: $15.50-$17.00 per hour
