Traffic Control Supervisor with Paving Job

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

BCW Traffic Management Ltd. is a leading traffic control company in BC looking for a Traffic Control Supervisor who will work closely with ownership and management team in the pursuit of successful execution of projects and growth opportunities. As a key member of the management team, the Supervisor will have the opportunity to have influence on the performance, profitability, and positioning for the future. This position reports to the Operations Manager of BCW Traffic Management Ltd.

**Responsibilities**:

- Providing workers with training before they undertake new tasks.
- Verifying workers' performance meets safety expectations.
- Correcting improper and unsafe work activities and conditions.
- Identifying any new workplace hazards and taking steps to ensure everyone stays safe.
- Reinforcing safe and proper work performance. Recording Supervisor Daily Report and / or logbook.
- Ensuring all documentation is clear, appropriate, and frequent, showing a systematic approach to safety.
- Identify mentors are identified and provide training within 3 months of an employee being hired.
- Conducting on-site inspections. Ensure workers are involved in the inspection process.
- Ensuring trucks maintained according to manufacturers specification, mileage tracked to reduce fuel spend.
- Ensuring equipment is tracked on a bi-weekly basis. Hold LCTs accountable for any missing equipment.
- Recruiting and training quality TCP’S
- Completion of BCW leadership mentor program and external leadership training.
- Liaise with clients and ensure a healthy open working relationship is developed and maintained.
- Work with management to ensure safety, operational and financial targets are exceeded.
- Completion of disciplinary forms for all employees who violate a safety rule, are late, loose equipment etc.
- Uphold and improve company safety program and performance

**Qualifications**
- High school graduates. Post-secondary education in related disciplines is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial capacity overseeing teams of 20 or more
- minimum 5 years of experience in construction industry, in traffic control is preferred with highway traffic control experience
- knowledge of project management and contract administration is an asset
- Exceptional communication and time management skills
- Proficiency in MS office is required
- Familiarity with construction and traffic management drawings
- Strong written and spoken English
- Must have ability to multi-task and use sound judgment to prioritize activities
- Must have exceptional communication skills, both verbal & written
- Must possess strong leadership abilities and a demonstrated record of gaining trust and respect of staff
- Must have strong organizational and time management skills
- Must be a self-starter and able to excel with limited supervision
- Continual curiosity and a questioning mind
- Profitability minded and focussed on the bottom line
- Out of the box thinker who is creative in problem solving to meet client needs
- Experience with paving jobs a huge asset.
