**Summary of Responsibilities**:
The vast majority of funding to support BGC’s Clubs and Camp Potlatch comes through grants and donations from corporations, foundations, service clubs, and private individuals, as well as special events. BGC’s Resource Development team oversees this fundraising activity.

BGC is able to provide an extremely valuable work experience to CSJ employees. The CSJ Fundraising Intern will develop skills in the areas of fundraising and resource development, donor support/customer service (engaging with donors, volunteer groups, and the public through written correspondence, on the phone and in person), communication (oral, written), teamwork, and office administration and organization, as well as digital skills through using Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and DonorPerfect.

After completion of their CSJ experience, we make every effort to help CSJ youth by providing opportunities for employment within BGC or by supporting them in their search for employment by offering referrals and letters of reference. On a case-by-case basis, we also provide financial support for post-secondary education through our bursary and scholarship programs.

Reporting to the Director of Resource Development, the CSJ Fundraising Intern will provide administrative and donations processing support to the Resource Development team at BGC’s Central Office, assisting with online research, sponsorship requests, and administrative tasks to support the fundraising goals of the organization.

**Job Duties**:
Specific tasks include:

- Assists in the preparation of event-related details
- Assists in researching new funding opportunities.
- Assists in updating DonorPerfect (donor database) with all donor interactions, including visits, proposals, phone calls, donations, etc.
- Receives cash, cheques, and credit card donations from various sources.
- Completes donation forms with the donor information and appeal codes.

Supervision and support will include one-to-one orientation on job duties, agency orientation, informal check-ins to answer questions and provide feedback, and ongoing assessment of performance. The Director of Resource Development, supported by other members of the Resource Development team, will work on one-to-one with the CSJ youth to determine their professional/career development goals, especially as they relate to their work during the summer. All BGC staff are encouraged to work closely together as a team, supporting each other as necessary, and full-time staff will be able to serve as role models/mentors to the CSJ youth. The Director and other Resource Development team members will coach the CSJ youth throughout the work placement, providing tips on how to do the job effectively. Mentoring and support will also be provided through informal check-ins to ensure progress in meeting skill development goals in the areas of fundraising and resource development, donor support, and office administration and organization.
