Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Draftsperson is responsible for creating shop drawings for the Engineering team. Develops and maintains drafting standards for the department, product materials lists, detailed fabrication and construction drawings as required, in accordance with Civil Engineering practices. Products include HDPE and stormwater, structural plate and other products.

**Key Responsibilities**

Review order and sales information to ensure all required materials are accurately detailed and supplied.
- Serve as contact person for engineering staff, customers and production as required to qualify and clarify order definition, material requirements and other information as required.
- Finalize details and dimensions using manual means and AutoCAD software
- Create detailed shop fabrication drawings and packing lists for conceptual drawings and other electronic order information
- Use of Auto CAD, Excel and in-house developed software for completing material lists, fabrication drawings, approval and construction drawings
- Provide timely confirmation of material requirements to production control so that materials can be ordered.
- Complete mathematical calculations and details using Auto CAD software and by manual means using a calculator and hand drawings/sketches.
- Take conceptual drawings from Design Engineers, staff and develop fabrication drawings and material lists based on industry standards.
- With little direction from Senior Technologist, complete layout and completion of custom project details in accordance with good engineering and detailing practices.
- Produce accurate shop drawings that follow civil engineering conventions.

**Education and Experience**:

- 3 years as a technologist, drafter, detailer or equivalent work experience
- Technology Diploma (preferably Civil) from a recognized and accredited Technical Institute
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Databases and Outlook
- Proficient with Auto CAD or similar drafting software.

**Abilities and Skills**:

- Knowledge and complete understanding of civil structure designs and drafting.
- Ensures quality of work released to production control.
