**JOB**: Special Education Facilitator

**The Opportunity**:
Our client based in Chase, BC is currently looking for a Special Education Facilitator who will contribute to our mission of providing culturally relevant and empowering education services that support the lifelong learning and personal growth of Neskonlith children and adults. The Special Education Facilitator will report to the Education Director and be responsible for providing support and assistance to students with diverse learning needs in the Neskonlith community. This role requires a strong understanding of special education, cultural sensitivity, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the academic and holistic development of Neskonlith students.

A day in the life of a Special Education Facilitator

As the Special Education Facilitator, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to K-12 students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate with educators, parents, and community members to ensure that students receive the necessary resources and accommodations to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

**As the Special Education Facilitator, you will**:
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff to develop comprehensive Individual Education Plans that address the unique needs of students with disabilities or special learning requirements.

Conduct thorough assessments to identify students' specific learning needs, strengths, and challenges. Using various assessment tools, such as observations, standardized tests, and other relevant methods.

Provide specialized instruction and support to students, both in individual and group settings, based on their IEP goals and identified areas of need.

Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies, adaptive technologies, and assistive devices as appropriate to support each student’s unique needs.

Regularly assess and monitor student progress towards their IEP goals, making necessary adjustments to instructional strategies and interventions.

Maintain accurate records of student performance and sharing progress reports with parents, teachers, and administrators.

Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to promote inclusive practices within the classroom; provide guidance and support to teachers on differentiating instruction and implementing accommodations and modifications.

Conduct meetings with parents to discuss student progress, address concerns, and provide guidance on accessing resources and support services.

Staying current with research, best practices, and policies related to special education. Attending professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills in supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Serve as an advocate for students with disabilities, ensuring their rights and entitlements are upheld. Collaborate with families and community partners to identify and access appropriate resources, services, and supports.

**A little about you**:
You have a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Master's degree is preferred.

You possess a valid teaching certification with a specialization in Special Education.

You have prior experience working as a Special Education Facilitator or similar role, preferably in a K-12 setting;
You are knowledgeable of culturally responsive pedagogy and Indigenous education frameworks, or a keen desire to learn.

You are proficient in using assistive technologies, adaptive devices, and specialized instructional materials.

You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

You possess the empathy, patience, and compassion necessary for working with students, parents, and community members.

You possess organizational skills to manage documentation, maintain records, and meet deadlines.
