The primary role of a MacLean Bolter is to inspect existing underground headings, scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure safety. The tasks may involve the operation of scaling bars, pneumatic hand-held drills, use of rubber-tired underground mobile equipment such as LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) units, mechanized bolters, scissor trucks, shotcrete sprayers and other support vehicles in a confined environment. Other tasks associated to this position may include, but not limited to, the installation of vent tubing and mine services (air, water and pumping lines), minor construction work and other heading maintenance jobs.

**Location**:Nunavik Nickel Mine, Northern Quebec (100km south of Deception Bay, 1800km north of Montreal), Canada
**Rotation**:21 days on, 21 days off
**Shift Length**:11 hours
**Travel**:Employee is responsible for travel to chartered flight from either Val d'Or or Montreal - kilometers paid

- Identify and rectify unsafe conditions in underground headings
- Drill holes using mechanized bolting equipment
- Install resin rebar using mechanized bolting equipment
- Install other ground support components as required such as welded wire mesh, straps, cable bolts or swellex
- Keep track of all work progress and communicate to supervisors and cross shifts status of workplace
- Must be able to comprehend written Engineering prints and verbal instructions as required to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Must be able to perform pre-operational inspections on equipment and operate in a safe and efficient manner

**Health and Safety**:

- Follow Company and Client health and safety standards and report all unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor
- Proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment.
- Work in accordance with local legislation
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as an underground miner
- 2 years or more experience with mechanized bolting equipment in an underground mining environment
- Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively
- Ability to make decisions quickly
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Ability to adapt to a varying work environment often requiring the employee to develop new and innovative work methods
- Good communication skills

**Pre-employment Requirements**:

- FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (Ontario)
- Permis Général d’Explosifs or able to obtain one as soon as possible
- Drug test
- Medical
- Valid drivers permit
