**Job Title**: Taekwondo Instructor

**Terms of Employment**: Permanent, Part Time or Full Time

**Salary**: $16-20 per hour depending on experience

**Benefit**: 2 weeks annual vacation

**Anticipated Start Date**: As soon as possible

**Location**: 19941 72nd Avenue, Langley, BC

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Plan and carry out recreational, athletic, fitness and sports activities
- Assemble supplies and sports and game equipment
- Demonstrate and instruct athletic, fitness or sports activities and techniques
- Instruct groups and individuals in arts, crafts and similar activities and lead groups and individuals in recreational or leisure programs
- Attend to clients with special needs
- Provide lifestyle awareness information
- Conduct therapeutic recreational or athletic activities
- Monitor recreational, sports or fitness activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required
- Enforce safety rules and regulations
- Assist with co-ordination of special events
- Schedule activities, keep logs, maintain records and prepare reports
- May train and supervise staff
- May maintain and repair sports equipment.
- Identify strength and areas for improvement for any age of athletics and/or masters;
- Plan, develop and execute training and practice the highest level of Taekwondo components (Basic Movements, Poomse, Sparring, Self Defense, Breaking Techniques)
- Engage with all ages - both athletics and masters - to nurture and develop skills and talents for highest potential through strong communication skills;
- Motivate and mentor athletes for competitive events at our Regional, Provincial, and National events.
- Create workable strategies for success to lead each athletes for next level, during regular training as well as competitive events;
- Teach our Standardized Curriculum to participants and athletes of all ages
- Coach our current staff for advance level Poomse and Sparring moves;
- To teach Taegeuk Poomse 1 - 8, Koryo, Keumgang, Taebaek, Pyongwon, Sipjin
- Assist with owners in developing higher caliber masters with a training plan for grass roots and high performance athletes;
- Facilitate with parents or caregivers of athletes to encourage and motivate to support athletes.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- A demonstrated ability to work independently while interacting professionally with students aged 4-6, 8-13, 14+, seniors, special needs students and working effectively with owner and staff
- Must be a minimum of Kukkiwon 1st dan (official certificate and/or dan card must be provided)
- Must be proficient in World Taekwondo Poomse (Taegeuk 1 - Koryo)
- Experience MUST be in WTF - World Taekwondo Federation (the style that is in the Olympics). This is the style that is worldwide in over 206 countries

**Experience**: Seven (7) years training experience in World Taekwondo Federation style Taekwondo
- **Workers Supervised: 3-5**:

- must be a team player and be able to guide, facilitate, support students in training in a high paced, busy environment
- must be physically fit, flexible, demonstrate at a high level the techniques and skills of a qualified 4th Dan Taekwondo leader.
